KOLKATA COPS

It is shocking, the attitude of the upholders of the law and the protectors of the citizens seems to be from a barbaric society. Today, 17 June 2008, The Times of India carried a front page report (http://epaper.timesofindia.com/Default/Client.asp?Daily=TOIKM&login=default&Enter=true&Skin=TOI&GZ=T&AW=1213690369765) titled "Callous Cops" highlighting the cry of help from a 8 year old child asking the gathered cops to save his father trapped under the overturned car. my blood boils after reading the article. i am left speechless and dumb with shock as to how the gathered cops could just leave the person dying and not try to do anything. should they be charged with manslaughter. they have committed no less crime.

A few days back The Telegraph, 15 June 2008 carried a story "Girl Dies as Cops Skirt Hospital", which again showed the demon we have as our protectors. Life was taken out of a budding 20year old girl in front of her father and relatives who kept begging, that the girl be shifted to a hospital where she could be attended to from the state run NRS Hospital.

These incidents are not in isolation. They are but a few which get highlighted. There are numerous other incidents happening across our city everyday. Why is this happening? What's wrong with the cops? Why are they behaving this way?

Leadership is the main factor which is lacking within the forces. There is an urgent need for a leader within them to change the attitude of the whole lot. An army needs just one general to win a war. But no one seems to be concerned about this. Politics should never be mixed with administration. The communists have systematically destroyed the discipline within the police. Once this same force used to be compared with Scotland yard and were second to none.

Bring back the "PRIDE" within you. You all take a vow and oath when you join. Just follow that to the words. Let the citizens trust you again. Let the Frankenstein not be created. Stem the rot here and now.
