"Bengal the most misruled" - K. Keshava Rao (Congress General Secretary, In-charge of West Bengal)

K. Keshava Rao said there were more murders during the Left Front rule than between 1952 and 1977 to drive home the “most-misruled” tag. “Nine thousand murders took place between 1952 and 1977. But 40,000 murders took place during the three decades of the Left.”

He did not clarify whether he was talking of political murders alone. Rao alleged that the Left government had failed to tackle the problems of health care, nutrition and the high dropout rate in schools. “The CPM has misruled Bengal in all fronts in the past 32 years. It has failed in primary education, health, nutrition, preventing the high dropout rates... implementation of the mid-day meal scheme and employment generation,” he said during a stopover on his way to Ranchi from Guwahati.

We who live in Calcutta and Bengal, don't need Rao to tell us this. All these are visible to us. The Left has become a party of professors and extortionists. Other than the Buddhadevs and Bimans, who else can we today say are the ideologists who wrested power with their vision during the late 70's. The majority of the members of the enterprise are busy making hay while the sun shines. They have now gone down to official extortion. The Telegraph today has carried a story as to how the CPM is extorting Rs.150/- from the villagers of one of the poorest parts of the state. who have to toil eight hours a day for three days to earn that sum.

Some of Bengal’s poorest of poor accused the pradhan of Balijuri gram panchayat in Birbhum of threatening them saying they would not be enlisted among those to get 100 days’ work under a central scheme if they did not pay. The Telegraph has got a receipt for the money issued by the party to one of the villagers. It bears the signatures of panchayat pradhan Malati Ghosh and Birbhum CPM secretary Dilip Ganguly and says “Lok Sabha poll funds 2009”. Anywhere you look, its the same story, in a different cover. 32 years of unrivalled power have made these people absolutely monsters who the top leadership cannot control anymore. What else, the disgruntled among them have moved to the other party for better gains. Do we have a choice????? There is one - 49 O.
